From the time Anu can remember, the Sack-Cloth Man has been around in the village. Who is he? Where did he come from? Doesn't he have a home or family? The slowly growing friendship between Anu and the Sack-Cloth Man is at the centre of this story. Written by Jayasree Kalathil and to be published in 2009 by DC Books, this book is part of a series of children's books produced by Anveshi Research Centre for Women's Studies, Hyderabad.

The series of children's books came out of a project called "Different Tales: Stories from Marginal Cultures and Regional Languages." The stories in the series put forward readings of childhood that are non-linear and reflects the resilience and complexity of children's experiences. Ten stories are being published in three languages - English, Telugu and Malayalam.
